Inspiring #girlbosses | Charleston, SC

· · Comments

Call it your tribe. coven, crew or simply life line....nothing will elevate your creativity and hold your hand (with a glass of Rose) quite like your fellow #girlbosses.  I feel so fortunate to have discovered such incredibly ambitious and supportive entrepeneurs early on while getting Wash with Water up and running.  And it is so much more fun celebrating the launch of our newest #selflove beauty products with this gorgeous collaboration from these two shining stars, Yana and Katie.

First up, is my girl Yana Wieckowski (you will recognize her as my partner in crime via Instagram stories) and as the founder of Hemming BirdsGetting to create and work side by side with Yana is like finding your soulmate in the midst of surviving teething babies, the inevitable roller coaster of a start up, and all else that comes your way as a new mama in a new city.  Both as mamas and makers we share a love for the art of process from scratch and creating unique must-haves for families near and far.

Yana is the founder and owner of Hemming Birds, a beyond talented maker company (did I mention I can barely sew a button) and brand focused on creating uber stylish, well-made parenting essentials. Originally from southeastern Connecticut, Yana earned her doctorate from the University of Michigan in 2011 before relocating to Charleston, SC where she taught biology at College of Charleston for 2.5 years. After the birth of her first daughter, her attention shifted to the remarkable lack of heirloom-quality, USA-made, machine washable parenting essentials available on the market. When combined with her love of design and sewing, all of the necessary ingredients had come together to launch a Kickstarter campaign for a new product, “The Charlie Bib.” Yana became a full-time mompreneur and Hemming Birds was born. Three years (and one more sweet daughter) later, Hemming Birds has launched a variety of new products, earned a loyal following of customers and social influencers, and created a retail presence around the United States. Still true to it’s founding, HB is dedicated to creating thoughtful parenting products, all designed and handcrafted in Charleston in small batches from the only the highest quality, responsibly-sourced materials. Our goal is to help parents enjoy even the messiest of life's moments.

Then we have have the endless charisma and talent of fellow mom'preneur Katie Shields. She embraces our ever favorite self-love mantra and is the mama and owner behind Charleston's first nontoxic nail studio, Mylkbar.  Like so many rockstar girl bosses, Katie saw a need in her community and committed her passion and resources to creating the ultimate solution.  Katie perfected her business idea for Mylkbar after becoming frustrated with the lack of nontoxic places to get pretty and relax. She is committed to providing a different kind of nail care experience - one that you’ll look forward to on a regular basis. Trust me- she has created such a gorgeous zen space that you can relax and totally forget that you haven't showered in two days! Mylkbar is dedicated to a fume-free service at a price point for all! I love knowing I can come here and get a safe mani/pedi while preggo, nursing or just desiring self-care in the healthiest way possible.

Enjoy our exclusive collaboration just in time for the holidays and share the gift of friendship and sisterhood!
